About The Artist: Cherise Stutzman
Cherise currently lives near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she draws inspiration from the people in her life, the beauty of creation around her, and her own innermost imaginings.

Welcome to the world of Cherise Stutzman, where catharsis meets dedication. With 35 years of painting experience, she embraces a multitude of genres and styles, from oils on canvas to decoupage, watercolor or acrylics, to linocut and ceramics, to illustrating and teaching. She double majored in English and music but later took a surprising turn to Fine art. In 2018, after a car accident, she began painting in earnest. That year, her work debuted in Spokane, and began a journey throughout the Pacific coast: Washington, California, and Idaho. In her work, she desires to explore and balance suffering with joy, whimsy with truth, and unearth beauty with the grit of difficulty. She invites you to explore the vibrant expressions of her work.
I once took an art class in college, while trying to decide what to study. To my dismay, after countless hours of work, the professor gave me a "B." I switched majors and never took another collegiate painting class. But I couldn't stay away for long. From there,I self-studied, and then years later took some evening group classes with a famous artist in Boise. Through that mentoring, I began to paint regularly. It became an expression of my inner self. It became the the way in which I communicated without words. And I just never stopped.

Soli Deo Gloria
"It's not a popular thing culturally these days," she says. But, Cherise has a deep, convicting faith in Jesus Christ. Her sole purpose in living is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. She hopes her artwork will reflect that while not being saccharine, disingenuous or "preachy," but just real, as one human to another.
